Tantor Platform 6.3: 90-day trial license, improved infrastructure observability, analytics, and access management

Tantor Labs has announced the release of the new version of Tantor Platform 6.3 for administering and monitoring any PostgreSQL-based databases. The new release delivers enhanced analytics tools, expanding access management capabilities, improving infrastructure visualization, and overall increasing system observability.
One of the key aspects of the new release is the development of infrastructure analysis tools. The interface now features an extended view of tenant and namespace topology. The interactive infrastructure diagram allows administrators to see all platform instances on a single page, analyze their interconnections, and promptly identify problematic components. etcd is now displayed for Patroni clusters, simplifying the monitoring of the distributed configuration store (DCS) state and enhancing the reliability of fault-tolerant systems.
Significant changes were implemented in the database access management interface. A new "Access Management" tab has been introduced, allowing users to view authentication rules at the pg_hba.conf file level. The interface provides the full information on database connection parameters, including connection type, IP address ranges, users, and authentication methods. Most importantly, the system highlights unsafe settings in this file and offers specific correction options. Operations for creating, editing, and deleting users are now available, making access administration more centralized and convenient.
In the advanced analytics section, we now have an automatic check for the system's readiness to operate the analytics module, including monitoring of the availability of required PostgreSQL extensions and configuration parameters. When discrepancies are detected, the platform offers automatic configuration, including the installation of extensions and modification of parameters, simplifying the launch of analytics and reducing manual fine-tuning. The platform also now supports the new version of pg_store_plans 1.9.1 extension, used for collecting statistics and analyzing SQL query execution plans.

In terms of system observability, the set of monitoring metrics has been expanded. New memory usage and process state indicators have been added, allowing deeper analysis of system behavior and quicker identification of potential performance issues.

Increased focus on platform security. Support for TLS encryption for interaction with NATS ensures secure transmission of telemetry and service messages between system components.

In addition to functional improvements, the release includes optimization of several platform components, including acceleration of database audit report generation and correction of identified errors to enhance system stability and performance.
As for working with Tantor XData database machine, Platform has now expanded capabilities for infrastructure management and backup. The number of settings in the cluster creation wizard has been increased, and now users have more options when modifying resources for already created clusters. New backup strategies now provide centralized management of backup policies, including selection of backup types, schedules, and data retention rules.

The trial license period for Tantor Platform has been extended to 90 days.
"In the new release, we focused on developing analytics and observability, as well as improving the convenience of access and infrastructure management. The automation of configuring analytical tools allows for quicker acquisition of valuable insights into system performance, while improved topology visualization enables more effective management of complex distributed environments," commented Vadim Yatsenko, CEO of Tantor Labs, on the release of the new version.
