Tantor Platform 6.2: Transparency and Security in DBMS Management, Simplified Cluster Operations

Tantor Labs announced the release of the updated Tantor Platform 6.2 for managing, administering, and monitoring any PostgreSQL-based databases. The release places significant emphasis on security tools, vulnerability detection capabilities, enhanced access control management, as well as simplifying cluster operations.
The update introduces support for automatic vulnerability detection in monitored DBMS instances. The Tantor Platform independently identifies potential security issues and assesses their severity according to the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) standard. For each detected vulnerability, the administrator receives remediation recommendations, which significantly reduces operational risks. In version 6.2, the vulnerability database is updated alongside the platform itself, ensuring data relevance without requiring additional user actions.

The Tantor Platform interface now features an interactive topology diagram that clearly displays the cluster structure and the status of all its nodes on a single page. This format simplifies architecture analysis, facilitates faster navigation through the configuration, and eases the maintenance of distributed and fault-tolerant systems.

Cluster parameter management capabilities have also been expanded. The platform now allows binding a parameter group to a cluster and, if necessary, overriding individual values using modifiers without making changes to the base parameter group. Additionally, the platform now enables exporting and importing cluster configurations to standard .json or .conf format files. Furthermore, it is now possible to change parameters for specific cluster instances and roll back changes if needed, making configuration management more flexible and secure.

The access rules section has been completely redeveloped from the ground up. A single page now consolidates complete information about database users, their parameters, system roles, as well as data from pg_ident files. The database administrator can view user privileges, connection limits, and access expiration dates, including accounts with expiring or already expired permissions. This simplifies access control and enhances transparency in DBMS administration.

In addition to functional changes, the release focuses on platform stability and quality. Bugs in the audit, task management, configurations, and event log sections have been fixed, and performance optimizations have been implemented for a number of scenarios.
"We strive in every release to make the Tantor Platform an even more convenient tool for DBMS administration in corporate environments, where security, predictability, and transparency in managing complex infrastructure are paramount. In this new release, we have implemented a proactive vulnerability scanning system that not only identifies risks but also immediately suggests ways to mitigate them, enabling a shift from manual control to security automation. At the same time, interaction with the infrastructure is simplified: the interactive cluster map provides instant understanding of its state, and the flexible parameter management system with rollback capability makes configuration changes safe. All of this enhances the holistic environment, which significantly reduces operational risks," commented Tantor Labs CEO Vadim Yatsenko on the release of the new Platform version.
